Dom Joseph Deschamps, Abbot ofPort-du-Salut**** (diocese of Laval – France) since 2006, having reached the age of retirement mentioned in ST 40.A of the Constitutions, presented his resignation to the General Chapter, Assisi 2017. The General Chapter accepted the resignation which became effective on September 8, 2018.
On October 4, 2018, the Community of Port-du-Salut elected as abbot, for an indefinite term,Dom Gérard-Marie Meneust****. Dom Gérard-Marie**** was Abbot of Melleray (France) from 1995 until the closing of the abbey in 2017.
