History
  • 1972: the founders, many of whom were already at Dahomey making preparations, took possession of the property in October of 1972. The foundation cross was blessed by the abbot of Bellefontaine on 28 October. The property is located 26 km west of Parakou, 36 km from the abbey of Etoile Notre-Dame. It is located on the savannah, which had to be cleared, near a stream that never dries up. This is the reason the place from which the monastery takes its name is Kokoubou, which means “always flowing.”
  • 1985, 20 June: consecration of the church by Mgr. Assogba, bishop of Parakou. Also present were Dom Ambrose Southey, abbot general, Mgr. Mununu and Dom Emmanuel Coutant.
